Yes, Kim's private clawfoot bathtub is pink, and yes, you can look up from it, through the steam and bubbles and see the stars.
Idaho Traffic Jam The first day, Kim was filming the premiere episode of her Internet cooking show. With a total film and production crew of Kim, Dan and a 23 year old videographer named Mike Wilson, they spent the day in an outdoor kitchen capturing gems of dialogue and sizzling veggies. Dan held large screens to block sunlight dapples from interfering with Kim's perfectly lit visage. Kim recited take after take of clear, concise cooking instruction. Mike wore headphones, wiped his long hair from his face and said things like "yea, that was pretty good…lets just try it again, cuz, I, uh, didn't have the mic cord plugged, uh, in, uhhhh…yea." The meal of the show was "BakeOvers" a simple method for cooking deliciously healthy one-skillet meals. Kim had brewed copious amounts of organic coffee and an baked an enormous ring of coffee cake, so there was much laughter and filming into the late afternoon. Here's a link to Kim's instructional video for BakeOvers, as well as easy biscuits and other videos from the farm. MaryJanesFarm is a phenomenon. From a five-acre parcel in Moscow, Idaho (see: the middle of nowhere), a national magazine is produced, a line of organic backpacking foods is packaged and shipped (REI is one of their largest customers), a bed and breakfast is run, and that is just the beginning. There is a storefront in the nearby resort town Coeur D'alene, a line of organic bedding, exotic chocolates, energy bars, greeting cards, organic produce, old-fashioned farm items like aprons, baskets and wrought iron door knockers, and on and on. Fresh Idaho Corn Kim has been working on the farm for the past three months as the "food stylist". This means that she has spent her days concocting scintillating recipes for MaryJanesFarm magazine. She has even taught herself to use an extremely fancy digital camera, worth more than Dan's car. She sets up little scenes with food, tablecloths and flowers and says things to the cuisine like "yes, yes, give me sexy, yes, give me pouty, yes, yes…" Her photos and recipes are in the current issue, in your local Barnes & Noble now. Idaho Harvest Festival Alas, the winter winds are blowing through Moscow, Idaho. Being so far north (only a quick drive to the Canadian border), the snows will soon make Kim's tent unlivable. With a teary wave, we rev our reasonable Japanese engines and head south, to Grandma's house. Love, Dan&Kim Jason B. posted on 2008-09-29 at 10:40 am doood, totally AWESZOME pics of Idaho. There is someone in my office who attends every year. Felt like I had already been there through your submission of the events that took place. Kim: Do I recognize the green apron? My cousin in Idaho Falls has Mary Jane's website defaulted to her computer and knows the Ogden farm girl well. Very impressive cooking video. Watch out Rachel Ray! You both look healthy and happy. I love how you threw the picture of the sunflower in the mix! Is that where it was taken? Also, there is a picture of the two of you standing in front of the farm that resembles a famous painting. I learned about it in art history, so naturally I have forgotten almost everything about it! Anyways, it's that painting with the guy and either his wife or his daughter, and she is holding a pitchfork. Do you know which one I am talking about? posted on 2008-09-24 at 11:59 am Send those cooking videoes to foodtv.com/star jane posted on 2008-09-24 at 9:47 am smells like biscuts are a bakin' Lisa Glattman posted on 2008-09-23 at 5:46 pm You make me want to visit Idaho - a place I never considered visiting! Is Napoleopn Dynamite still a big deal up in those parts? I thought I might see him running by in the "average view while driving". Great to see the two of you together creating and sharing your hospitality.
